Welsh Wine Week

For ten days around the start of June, vineyards across Wales put on tastings, tours and meet-the-maker events. It falls just as the seasonal vineyards open for the summer, which makes it a good time to go.

What the week is

Welsh Wine Week began in 2020, as a week of online events organised by the Welsh Drinks Cluster with Welsh Government money, at a time when vineyards would normally have been busiest at the cellar door. By 2023 it had moved to early June, with events at the vineyards themselves.

There is no single venue. Each vineyard decides what to put on, so the week is really a lot of separate events: a tour on a day the vineyard would usually be shut, a tasting led by the winemaker, a new wine or a new building shown off for the first time. The Dell first opened to the public during the week in 2023, and White Castle opened its winery during it in 2025. Alongside, there is a tasting in Cardiff for the trade and the press.

Wales now has more than 60 vineyards, and Gwin Cymru, the body for Welsh vineyards and wine producers, uses the week to mark how far the industry has come.

Past dates

From Business Wales announcements and reports for each year. We found no dates for 2021 or 2022.

2023Friday 2 to Sunday 11 JuneThe Dell opened to the public for the first time, with tours. Velfrey, White Castle, Hebron and Vale Vineyard held tastings, and six vineyards poured at a trade tasting in Cardiff.

2025Friday 30 May to Sunday 8 JuneMore than 40 events across Wales. White Castle opened its new winery during the week, and St Hilary and Tair Gafr showed their first vintages at the Cardiff trade tasting.

Plan around it

Pick one area, as Welsh vineyards are a long way apart. Monmouthshire is the easiest, with three vineyards close together round Abergavenny and Raglan and a fourth at Tintern; our Monmouthshire guide has the days each opens. In the north, Gwinllan Conwy and Vale Vineyard pair well on a Saturday, and the North Wales guide shows how.

Go on the weekends. Both weekends of the week fall in the summer season, when The Dell opens on Saturdays, White Castle opens Friday to Sunday and Vale Vineyard has started its Saturday tours. St Hilary begins taking visitors in late May too, so the week is often the first chance of the year to see it.

Book early. The vineyards announce their own events on their websites and social media, and the tours are small. We add the ones we find to what’s on at Welsh vineyards. The dates themselves are announced by the Welsh Government on Business Wales, so check before you go.

Questions people ask

When is Welsh Wine Week 2027?

The dates had not been announced when we checked in November 2026. Since 2023 it has started on a Friday between 24 May and 2 June and run for ten days, to the second Sunday.

Is the Cardiff tasting open to the public?

No. The tasting held in Cardiff during the week is for the wine trade, buyers and the press. For the public, the events are at the vineyards themselves.

Do I need to book Welsh Wine Week events?

Book them as you would any vineyard tour, direct with the vineyard. Most Welsh vineyards are small and their tours take a handful of people, so the popular dates go early.
